Carefully contained

When I started Ertha, finding packaging that was sturdy enough to protect my fragile ceramics without costing a lot proved difficult. Then one day, while planting lettuce in a recycled tomato tin, I realised it was just the right size for a mug—and strong enough to keep it safe on its journey. Packaging this way fits perfectly with my love of the earth and my mission to recycle and repurpose wherever I can.

Packaging rooted in Earth friendly choices

These tins come from beautiful, local Italian restaurants —Orto, Streetza, and Viti Pizzeria—who kindly save them for me. Because they donate them freely, I never charge for packaging, only for postage. It’s a small way to keep costs down as well as give these tins a second life.

Grow something of your own

With every tin, I include a free plant marker to encourage you to grow something of your own—herbs, lettuce, bee-friendly blooms, or whatever brings you joy. If planting’s not your thing, the tin can be reused as a utensil holder, vase, or anything else you imagine. And if your item doesn’t fit in a tin, it’ll be carefully packed in a sturdy box - my goal is always to get your pieces to you safely, with as little waste as possible. That means reusing materials where I can, even if it’s not the prettiest package — sustainability is the top priority.
