Ertha Pottery

Sarah, the creator of Ertha Pottery, works from her studio in her home in East Belfast, Northern Ireland. She is inspired by the idea of aesthetic functionality, believing that the objects we use daily should bring joy to our everyday lives.Specialising in small batch and bespoke pieces, Sarah cherishes the idea that she is creating pieces that are unique and hopes that they bring joy to her customers — whether by evoking a special memory, reminding them of a cherished place, or simply brightening a moment in their day.

Why Ertha?

Ertha comes from the Old English word for clay—the very essence of the Earth itself. As a solo artist, I handcraft each piece with that deep connection in mind: the Earth is clay, and clay is life. My pottery is a joyful celebration of colour, warmth, and nature’s vibrant energy, bringing a little bit of happiness and brightness into your home with every piece I create.

Inspired collections

Sarah creates collections inspired by Ireland, nature, and the things that matter most to her—pieces that have become her best sellers. Every now and then, you'll find a unique or bespoke collection, keeping the joy of making and creating alive.

Stocking my online shop

As a solo artist, I pour my heart and hands into every piece of pottery I create, which means my shop isn’t always fully stocked. I’m busy making for my beloved local artisan markets, stocking my favourite shops, and designing new collections—all while staying true to the handmade nature of my work. I’m incredibly grateful to be in the position that I can't make as fast as demand would like and appreciate the continual support and patience.
